2000 Business As Usual? Yeah!
This is the message The Marmara Hotel is sending out to international visitors with a permanent collection of paintings to portray the bright, vibrant and positive side of Istanbul.“Most countries have positive aspects that can be promoted to the foreign visitor and Turkey has even more than most, so it should be an easy sell. Pictures are a great cross-over form of communication which overlap language barriers and can say so much in just a glance of the eye.” Ned Pamphilon

Around the corner is a series of small illustrative cartoon paintings:
In each case a character looks, smells and bites to taste and as always the answer is a positive, affirmative, international Yeah! from the same comic book language of Pow! Wow! and Pop! It’s a game of international communication crossing international barriers delivering an international message which coincides with what the artists really thinks and feels about Turkey: Turkiye? Yeah!
Six conference rooms complete the collection, each contain surreal, vibrant and colourful impressions of their namesakes: Kız Kulesi, Ortaköy, Beşiktaş, Halıç, Beyoğlu and Galata.
“A single image may leave an indelible and pleasing impression with a visitor. The right image can sell the idea of a city, it’s country and the people to a potential customer, whether tourist, business-person or big investor. Unfortunately, business can mean the visitor seeing little more than the hotel conference room. So we’ve brought Istanbul to them! Business as usual in Istanbul?Yeah!” Ned Pamphilon
